CPYB Exam

The BC Yacht Brokers Association has joined with the Certified Professional Yacht Broker Program (CPYB), which was developed to further raise the professional standards of brokers in North America. This designation is internationally recognized. As every BCYBA member is committed to abide by the highest professional standards in North America, it encourages all its members, once eligible, to become Certified Professional Yacht Brokers.

CPYB accreditation requires the completion of a comprehensive exam that covers laws and regulations, technical information, transactions and broker responsibilities and ethics (based on the YBAA Code of Ethics for study and exam purposes). The exam is taken in person at the BCYBA offices (please note that there is $100 fee for the administration of the exam). CPYB brokers are required to obtain recertification every three years as a part of ongoing professional development activities.

Eligible brokers should complete the CPYB application form and submit it to the administration offices in Annapolis, Maryland. BCYBA members in good standing are eligible to receive a discounted fee for the exam materials ($225 USD versus $775 USD for non-members). More information is at www.cpyb.net.
